PhotographsPlease supply a photo of your pet in the pose you would like for the portrait. Also include as many close-up photos of your pet’s face as possible, eyes are the most important feature so please be sure to include one that clearly shows the color and shape. Photos of ears, muzzle and any other additional photos you feel capture the unique personality and qualities of your pet should also be included. The quality of reference photos will directly effect the finished portrait. Traditional Film Prints ~ All photos should be fairly large and show plenty of detail (please try not to send blurry photos), I can work from a 5 x 7 but would prefer something larger. All photos will be returned in the condition they were received. Please do not send prints that are irreplaceable, have copies made from the negatives. I would suggest mailing your photos with delivery confirmation or equivalent delivery. Digital Photos ~ Please e-mail the highest resolution or dpi possible in the original, unaltered file format. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your photo files, please contact me for assistance. The Photo Shoot ~ Relax, this may take awhile, pets are usually hams when you don’t have a camera in your hand. Wait for the shot you want, take your time, if you aren’t completely happy with the pose, try again later. Get as close as possible to fill up the frame. Please don’t use a zoom lens, this will distort your photo. Natural light is preferred without a flash. If you photograph your pet outdoors, a slightly overcast day is best, this allows you to see the true colors of your pet. Avoid direct sunlight, this will wash out most of the lovely details. If you are photographing your pet indoors, position them near a window but not directly in front of it. If possible, please use a darker background for light fur and a lighter background for darker fur.
